Yesterday it was time to repeat Chica's FAVN test. We had to visit the vet. With her only. And Pumuckl had to stay in home. Anyway that was better for him as he hates to go out. The only time he has been out in his short life was for the FAVN test with Chica and he didn't stop to Meow all the way until we arrived. He was truly afraid from the world outside. Chica as a former stray cat knows the outside world and has never been afraid, anyway she visited the vet already several times for her neutering and tests and vitamin injections.
But yesterday everything has been different. Chica didn't want to go to her box so we had to push her inside. Then she didn't stop to Meow until we drive the car. It was a real orchestra of Meow before we finally head to the vet: Chica from inside the box and Pumuckl from outside.
But once we arrived with Chica at the vet she felt okay again. She knows the place. And she was so calm. The vet took quite a lot of blood from her and she didn't complain at all.
The hassle started just when we arrived back in home. Chica was very okay, but Pumuckl... I don't know it was because he smelled the vet in Chica, or the blood or because Chica left him alone, but he got really evil. He growled at her and made sounds like an angry dog. I even thought he will jump up her to bite. we had to separate them although we never do this. One in the bedroom, one in the living room. Pumuckl was looking at Chica from far and Chica always tried to go to him until he started growling again.
Pumuckl watched Chica well and registered every
movement from his hideout at the fridge
Chica gave up and just slept at the cozy blanket
Chica got very sad as she couldn't understand why Pumuckl had this behavior against her. In the night he was sleeping with us and she stayed in the living room, sleeping in her box.
Chica was sleeping all night in her box.
When Pumuckl woke up he greet her from up
Now Pumuckl is not that afraid anymore but Chica is angry from him. They don't sit together as before. Everyone is sleeping in another place. I can feel they miss each other very much but nobody wants to take the first step... Strange cats... Like humans...
The vet said Pumuckl's behavior is normal as they are one family so he cares too much about her. Well, let's see :)
Wish us luck for Chica's FAVN test. As she failed the first time we just hope now everything will be alright.

Yes it is normal behaviour. When I went to the V E T last year furr dental work, Flynn hissed and growled at me. It was ten days before he was back to normal with me. It was because I smelled like an intruder with all the strange V E T smells on me, and the anaesthetic. Now we love each other as much as we always have done.

Sorry to hear that Chica and Pumuckl weren't getting along when Chica came home from the vet. Purring that Chica's FAVN test comes back okay!
Oh we hope hope hope HOPE that Chica's FAVN test comes back in the normal ranges...and we are sure that the two of them will make up in no time...

Abby
poor chica all the trauma of going to the vet, then her best buddy acts that way...
good luck with the test results.
I hope that she passes her test this time!
They'll be back to normal soon. Vet days are double trauma. Once at the vet's and once when we get back home and are shunned by our family.
Hope the test comes back OK.

I hope Chica's test turns out okay!
We hope Chica's test is negative!
We growl and hiss and spit when one of us goes to the vet and comes back home too. That's normal.

That photo of Pumuckl with her toy made me sad. I'm sure they will be friends again soon. I hope the test results are good.
I have an award for you on my blog.

Wonderful to meet a fellow expat cat lover in Egypt. I am lugging mine over shortly--and her 100 pound canine companion!
I fink that they will go back to normal very soon. When Grandma's cats go to the V-E-T at different times, the other way always sniffs and sniffs and then hisses when the one who has been to the V-E-T gets home.
I definitely am sending good wishes about the test ...
Ninna always does that - hisses and acts weird when one of us other ones goes to the vet. It passes after a day or so.
Your cats are very pretty. I have a cat who is terrible at the vet. He growls and hisses. Last time, they called in a second handler to help deal with him.
I hope the tests come back ok and its a long time before you have to visit the vets again.
