Cats and Grapes OR Fun Playing with Fruits

If you were searching for "cats and grapes": Grapes are dangerous to cats. Cats should not eat grapes and you really should avoid leaving any grapes around for your cats to eat. Grapes and raisins have a great toxic potential which can lead to kidney failure of your cat!

Currently it's grape season in Egypt. I love grapes and yesterday we got 1 kg grapes.

Of course Pumuckl was very interested in what I was eating. He is the one who always has to try what his human Mommy is eating. Pumuckl grabbed a grape... and rather than eating it he played with it. Seems like his mommy Chica didn't teach him not to play with food...

Pumuckl played Pawball with the grape

And carried it in his mouth

And asked his mommy to join him

Cats playing with Grapes
Well, when the first grape got a bit ugly he took another one and then another... until all the house was full of grapes. Both cats had much fun playing pawball with the grapes and didn't get exhausted.

But the best thing was when I woke up in night feeling Pumuckl next to me... but not only him. He brought me a grape into the bed! Wow, Pumuckl!

Pumuckl, did you think I would be hungry at night and would like to eat a grape?! Sweetie!

All this reminded me of last year. More than grapes I love cherries but it's hard to find them here in Egypt. When I finally saw some in the supermarket I bought some cherries, a bit expensive, but okay. I enjoyed my cherries very much. I couldn't finish all and forgot to put the cherry bowl into the fridge before I have gone to bed. When I woke up next morning I was screaming. All the flat was red! And both cats also!

Grapes and rasins can cause kidney failure in dogs. Are they just as bad for cats?

@ Condo Blues:
No idea! However I believe they know what they can eat as Chica is a former stray and also survived. But anyways they didn't eat the grapes, just played pawball :-)

@ Ettarose & LizzyT:
I felt like saving Pumuckl's very private spot. We want to have a family friendly blog :-)

@ Parker:
They haven't been really scared just happy about the mess they have created once again :-)

i hope u accounted for all the grapes because you wouldn't want Chica and Pumuckl to be under the influence of wine...

i'll have to see if my boyz would find fruit to be such a wonderful toy...

Finally! We've tried to comment all day! Silly blogger.

Anyway, that looks like tons of fun. And how sweet and cute you are Pumpuckl to bring one to bed with you.

I must wonder...which was more fun? The grapes that you were allowed to play with...or the forbidden fruit of the cherries...

Great grapes post!
We have lots of cherries here in Michigan, but they're not ripe yet. Most of the dried cherries in the world come from Michigan.
Right now it's asparagus season here - we won't have grape season for many months yet!

Ask your Mom to freeze the grapes first and see what you do. We would think it's a good way to stay cool there in the heat of Egypt.

Love the shot where your privates are blacked out! hahaha!

@ Mr. Hendrix:

@ Cat Street Boyz:
Really? I think I have to google orange bengal cats :-)

@ Mo:
Asparagus is very nice! Unfortunately it have never seen it in Egypt, but we have loads of in Germany, yummy :-)

@ Cat-a-holic, Lilly and Laila:
Great idea, we have to try that out!
